The mandate of the Agency includes conducting research on the status of water towers, spatial analysis of land use, land cover changes and hydrological analysis of water towers in Kenya. This information is then used to design programmes that determine resource allocation for reclamation, restoration, rehabilitation and community livelihood interventions needed.
The Agency also enhances partnership opportunities in water towers conservation, mobilizes resources and develops sustainable nature-based enterprises. These sustainable livelihood programmes enable communities living within and around water towers to adapt to climate changes.
