Recovery of Maasai Mau Water Towers.

The Chairman Hon. Rashid Echesa inspected progress made on the ongoing recovery of some sections in Maasai Mau Water Tower. He noted that the security team led by the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Mr Abdi Hassan has removed illegal forest dwellers in the following areas: Eneng’etia, Ololopriki, Naitupaki, Olkurto, and Medunge. The areas to be handled in the next 14 days will be Sasumwani, Kilaba, and Nkareta. This is part of the full recovery of forest land that had been illegally converted to settlement areas. The first phase which included areas of Kosia and Kass FM was done in 2018, followed by phase two in 2019 which covered Sierra Leone, Chebitet, and adjacent sections. Hon. Soipan Tuya, CS for Environment, Climate Change and Forest today issued a statement in support of the exercise and asked the security team to conduct the operation in a humane manner. She emphasized that no lives should be lost during the operation.
