Chairman Hon. Rashid Echesa joins Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya Mama Rachael Ruto, in planting 30,000 trees at Shikusa Block in Kakamega Forest. Mama Ruto has adopted 500 acres in the forest and is determined to rehabilitate degraded areas fully. Mr. Echesa congratulated and thanked Mama Rachael Ruto for adopting a section of Kakamega Forest. He committed to ensuring that the trees are well protected until they are fully grown.
The First Lady is accompanied by Kakamega County First Lady Prof Janet Baraza and her counterparts from Uasin Gishu County Mrs. Selina Bii, Kericho County Mrs. Betty Mutai, Nyamira County Mrs. Emily Nyaribo, and Bungoma County Mrs. Margaret Lusaka. Also present are Hon. Bonny Khalwale, Kakamega County Senator and Hon. Elsie Muhanda, Kakamega County Women Rep. The tree planting is part of the Mama Doing Good target of planting #500MillionTrees by 2032.
